Silverado ZR2 coming, I guess it would be a Ram Rebel and Tundra TRD Pro competitor more than anything.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I still think that both ZR2 models should be GMC but what do I know

I mean, you're not wrong lol. I just have always thought that the easiest way to start to separate GMC from Chevy is to turn it into a Jeep competitor and focus on luxury off road trims.

I think some of you complain just to complain and really have no idea whatsoever about anything, other than how to complain

From a branding perspective, Chevy is more sporty and GMC is more luxury. So an off-road variant of the GM full-sized pickup would more align with sporty.
As for your competition comment, I disagree with everyone’s view of the Rebel. The Rebel is really just an appearance package. It doesn’t really have a nything functional over Ram’s 4x4 off-road package. Same lift, same locking rear diff, same skid plates, same recovery hooks, and actually has a worse departure angle because of the rear exhaust placement. The only real improvement is slightly better approach angle from the unique front bumper. Everything else is cosmetic. (Ok if we are going to be fair, it also comes with Bilstein shocks. But those aren’t amazing and the 4x4 off-road package comes with enhance shocks too.) Plus you can actually get a Rebel in 4x2!?!?!
So I am not saying the ZRX will be a proper Raptor fighter, but it seems like it will be in a completely different class from the Rebel.

I agree with your assessment of the Rebel. Unless you opt for the much less reliable air ride suspension, the Rebel doesn’t even have a lift over stock . Just modifications for improved approach and departure angles, some slightly better shocks, and a loud polarizing red interior. The existing Trail Boss and AT4 are closer competitors. DSSV shocks are on another level compared to the Rebel's Bilsteins.
Hopefully GM begins to offer the option of a selectable locker throughout their half-ton line-up.

I didn’t realize that the Rebel lacked any more offroading chops compared a a standard Ram.
This is just a ZR2, the rumore d ZRX is supposed to be the full Raptor competitor with an LT4 based engine. Will they actually do it? I can't predict GM to save my soul.

I think you need to re-read Chevy’s official press release. It never calls the Off-road Silverado a ZR2:
“The Silverado race program follows the success of the Colorado ZR2 in off-road racing.”
ZR2 is a Colorado RPO code, it will not be used on the full-sized GM trucks. ZRX will be the equivalent to the ZR2 for the Silverado. The official press release never uses the term ZRX, but GM has filed an application to Trademark ZRX. So it seems reasonable this will be the actual name.
Unofficial sources have confirmed that this is true (if you believe that kind of thing).

That’s why I bought a GMC Safari instead of a Chevrolet Astro; I wanted more luxury.

What is the market for this thing? Making Home Depot runs on Saturday? Or leave it parked in the driveway and wax it on Saturday?

Ah, good call. That wasn't very clear until you explained it.
